In all transactions I will assume that you have read these policies and/or asked any questions concerning a service performed by Great West Gunsmithing and had such questions answered to your satisfaction.  Let the fine print begin.

Firearms Modifications
Firearms modified from the manufacturer's specifications generally void any warranty you may have. If in doubt about your factory warranty contact the manufacturer and ask them about your warranty.  When requesting that Great West Gunsmithing modify a firearm from the original specifications you agree that I will not be held liable for warranty issues.
  Character
Great West Gunsmithing will not knowingly accept for service or deliver any firearm to any person not legally able to possess such firearm.  It is my belief that you legally own the firearm delivered for service and that you are of legal age and good moral character and will use the firearm responsibly and in a legal manner.  I reserve the right to refuse service or delivery to anyone I suspect may not meet the afore mentioned criteria until a background or other check is performed.
Unlawful Parts and/or Modifications
Great West Gunsmithing performs modifications and installs parts that may not be legal in your area.  I comply with Federal Statutes and the laws of the State of Oregon.  I attempt to keep abreast of changing laws in other States, but ultimately the responsibility rests with the customer to ascertain that a part or service is legal within their area.  When in doubt contact your local law enforcement agency for clear definitions of your jurisdictions firearms laws.  Great West Gunsmithing will not knowingly provide a part or service that you can not legally have.
  Firearms Transfers
Great West Gunsmithing will perform firearms transfers and adhere to all ATF and State of Oregon statutes.  The State of Oregon conducts my NICs checks and a form 4473 will be completed to include personal identification and finger print data before requesting an approval number for your transfer.

Any transfer I feel is a "straw purchase" attempt will be refused and local authorities will be notified for further investigation.  If you have questions about straw purchases I encourage you ask me or your local law enforcement agency

Payment
Payment by cash, check, money order or major credit card is due when I request it.  Deposits will be applied to final balances for services rendered.  Returned checks will be referred to collections and/or law enforcement.  All credit card payments will be approved before delivery of firearms or accessories.  Special payment arrangements should be made well in advance of delivering firearms for service.

As a general rule all services shipped in are required to be prepaid.  Please include your payment in full when shipping items to me.  This makes the process move much more smoothly and allows me to order your parts without delay.

Storage and Sale
Firearms left at Great West Gunsmithing beyond 30 days of notification of service completion will be assessed a storage fee of $10 per day.  Firearms left beyond 90 days may be sold or kept to pay for debt of services.

When your firearm is completed I will notify by email or telephone at the contact information that was provided at delivery.  After 30 days a certified letter will be sent to the address of record.  Certified letters will be considered final notice regardless of delivery or return.

Warranty
Great West Gunsmithing is not an authorized repair center for any manufacturer.  I also do not warranty any parts installed that I do not produce.  My warranty shall be limited to the quality of service provided in that I will warranty my service due to improper installation or adjustment by repair or refund.  It will be the sole judgment of Great West Gunsmithing staff as to what constitutes normal wear, abuse, or defective workmanship.  For parts and accessories I will assist in warranty claims to the manufacturer of faulty parts or accessories.

I stand behind my work.  If you have a problem with something that was done by Great West Gunsmithing I want to know.

Parts & Accessories
Unless otherwise agreed upon Great West Gunsmithing will supply new parts from reputable manufacturers and supply houses.  Customers may supply their own parts provided they fit and are not obviously defective.  Great West Gunsmithing will assume no liability for the construction or performance of new, used or customer supplied parts.

Parts modified or custom parts will not be returnable or refundable.  Special order parts will be assessed a $20 return fee if the customer declines the part after it has been ordered.

Tritium night sights requiring staking for installation or damaged in shipping will be at the customer's risk.  I will only be liable for installation damage to dove tail based sights.

Condition of Firearms
Firearms deemed unsafe to fire will be tagged for customer notice and will filed with customer signature of notice.

Firearms will be inspected upon delivery for damage in transit or previous damage from use.  Such items will be noted.  Small scratches and dings or dents are inevitable in a gunsmithing shop.  Repair or replacement of minor and major damage will be at the sole discretion of Great West Gunsmithing.  I'm very careful, but scratches happen.

Hours & Contacts
All shop hours are by appointment only, with no Sunday or Monday appointments available.  The shop is not open for walk in traffic, period.  Please keep your appointment and keep the visit brief and to the point.  In order to repair guns in a timely fashion I must be working and not talking.

I recommend email for contacting me.  If you must phone please keep the call brief and to the point.  If you have a lot of questions please email.  Phone calls hinder the production of work and will cause service delays.

Discounts
Discounted labor and possibly parts is extended to Law Enforcement, Active Military, and NRA Members.  You must request this discount before payment is made.  There will be no reimbursement for discounts not requested before payment for services.  Great West Gunsmithing may require proof of status in the form of identification or a copy thereof, or official department letterhead.

Delivering or Receiving Firearms
All firearms drop offs and pick ups at the shop are to be made with my neighbors in mind.

  • Please have your firearm in a case both ways.

  • Don't block driveways.

  • Leave your pets in the vehicle.

  • Don't be loud or obnoxious.

I live and work in a nice neighborhood.  If you cause a complaint or disturbance I will invite you to take your business elsewhere.

When visiting the shop it is at the end of the driveway in a detached building.  If no one answers the door I'm not open.  Please don't ring all the doorbells or ask neighbors where I am.  Remember that all hours are by appointment and if you don't have an appointment......

Personal Information
Your personal information is held in the highest regard. Great West Gunsmithing will not sell or otherwise distribute your address or phone number, and I will not discuss my clientele with other clients. All 4473 information is securely locked away and credit card numbers are not stored.  If I must call and leave a message for you at a work number it will be my phone number and name only.
  Photographs
I may use a photograph of your firearm for the purpose of displaying it on this website.  In all cases the serial number will be blurred or otherwise be unreadable by the use of photo software.  I will not list your name with the photo, or any personally identifying information.

Check back often as policies may be amended or new ones added.
