It's legal
and easy (most times) to send your firearms to me. Below are some
guidelines and general experience insights that may help you. If you run
into a situation I'll try to help.
|
In
general I prefer UPS for firearm shipping. Ground shipping is
affordable and timely. All firearms should be shipped by the
UPS shipping desk, as the UPS Store is still governed by the old
Mail Boxes Etc. policies and generally won't accept firearms.
If you print your shipping label online you can arrange pick up or
hand it to any UPS driver and most pickup locations. |
|

-
Pack your firearm securely in
a sturdy box without any gun logos or firearms markings on it.
A plain white or brown box, or a fluorescent light fixture box
work well.
-
Claim the shipment as a
firearm. Don't claim it as parts, or a vacuum, or that's
what you'll be compensated for if something is damaged.
-
Insure the rifle for MSRP
replacement value. You won't receive a $1000 claim check
for a $200 rifle.
-
Require an adult signature
for delivery. I will not be responsible for missing
deliveries if I didn't sign for them. Delivery
confirmation is not good enough.
-
DO NOT ship ammo. Live
ammo or fired cases, don't send it period! If I need to
have ammo for your rifle I will buy it and bill you for it.
-
Include your contact
information inside the package. The labels can get damaged
and/or be hard to read. Please print legibly. If
your 5 looks like an S I can't get the gun back to you without
the chance of misdelivery.
-
Supply me a tracking number
or at least a delivery date so I can be here to sign for it.
If I'm out of the shop on your delivery day a delay will
result.

FedEx
delivers here regularly so if you prefer FedEx by all means use
them. I have had some problems returning firearms thanks to
the unpleasant and unhelpful desk staff here in Salem. As with
UPS, the FedEx Kinko's stores will generally treat firearm shipments
with disdain and ask you to leave. You can try, but the FedEx
desk is your best bet without an account or online label. |

The
Postal Service is a great resource for long arms shipping.
While it's legal to send your firearm to me, I can't return it to
you by US Mail unless you have an FFL. Be sure to claim your
shipment as a firearm, fill out the forms and you're good to go. |

|
Handguns
require special shipping!
UPS and FedEx require handguns to be shipped overnight to reduce the
chances of theft. The Postal Service won't mail them for you
unless you have a license. Since Overnight shipping is
expensive I recommend you locate an FFL dealer near you who will
ship the handgun to me. Shipments between FFL's can be sent
Priority Mail Flat Rate and save a lot of money. It's really
important to provide me with tracking information to keep the
package on schedule for delivery. |

How we ship:
- Long Guns -
UPS Ground, adult signature required for delivery
- Handguns -
see special notice to the left
- Triggers &
Parts - USPS Priority Mail

Any portion of
the firearm with the serial number engraved on it is considered a
firearm. This means that a part like the lower receiver of an
AR15 is a firearm, but the upper receiver is not. All firearms
must have an adult signature required for delivery.

Great West Gunsmithing is a class 1 FFL - dealer/manufacturer.
If you need a
copy of my FFL faxed to your shipper please let me know and I'll
send them one. It doesn't happen often, but if it happens to
you I'll help. |
